History of Sage
Founded in 1984, Sage Hospitality Group set out to be the best hotel owner and operator in the business. Through 35 years of creating valued partnerships with internationally recognized hotel brands, Sage grew a portfolio focusing on running successful select and full-service hotels. Sage became recognized as a preferred management company for industry leaders such as Marriott International, Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Hyatt. But the growth didn’t stop at hotel brands, Sage owns and operates experiential, independent hotels across the country and has more in development right now.
In 2006, Sage Restaurant Concepts was created using Sage’s hotels as the original traffic driver and expanding to local exposure, driving new customers and aggressive results on the food and beverage side of the experience. Eleven years later, Sage Restaurant Concepts owns and operates 12 unique restaurant concepts with more coming nationwide.
This year, in 2020, Sage Hospitality became Sage Hospitality Group, a collective of entrepreneurs and visionary companies who work together to deliver artful hospitality every day. These companies consist of elements that Sage has always deliver on, including Sage Hotel Management, Sage Restaurant Concepts, Sage Investments and introducing, Sage Studio.
Our Hotel Brands
Also in 2006, Sage made its first mark in the creative branding field with the Nines, part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection in Portland, Oregon. Sage created a vision for the Nines, atop the redeveloped Meier and Frank building, on the ninth floor. The space is appointed to the Nines, the vision reflecting that of a jewel box. Stepping into the Nines after an elevator ride up, the guest experiences something special. With the results and reviews pouring in from Sage’s first flagship in branding, the team was hooked, the bar for experiential travel was set high. Sage began to look for more creative opportunities—taking a dive into creating modern luxury experiences, which led to The Curtis Hotel in Denver, The Crawford Hotel at Denver Union Station and The Logan, Philadelphia’s Hotel.
Continuing an aggressive growth strategy with creativity and results, Sage aims to expand in both its restaurant and hotels divisions. Targeting hotels focused on modern luxury—creating places that people go to and not through. Taking places that have become tired and adding an energy to them through innovative design, art infusion, strong leadership and creative solutions, Sage Hospitality Group continues to grow and lead the hospitality industry in development, investment and management.
